IBU ROFIA

Owner, Java Indonesian Rijsttafel Restaurant

Ibu Rofia started in the restaurant business in 1980 when first arriving to New York City from her hometown of Cirebon, Indonesia located in the central of Java. She brought with her the knowledge of her mother’s cooking back in her village where she grew up with 4 other siblings. She started managing her sister in law’s restaurant called Tamu located in Soho, Manhattan. After Tamu closed, she opened Java on July 4, 1992 and has been running it ever since. Ibu Rofia is proud to have been blessed all these years to share her passion of cooking with the Park Slope, Brooklyn community and beyond. Ibu Rofia hopes to continue to bring awareness to Indonesian cuisine and culture to the New York City area while continuing to serve Indonesian favorites such as Nasi Goreng, Sate, Rendang, Gado Gado, Mie Bakso and the Dutch inspired Rijsttafel.
